Jay and Marilyn James, business owners of Royal Fiberglass Pools in Tully, NY, had been searching for a nearby place to keep their equipment and machinery for their pool business.  They purchased the parcel of land in scenic Otisco, NY that was known as ‘The Bardwell Farm’.  The Bardwell Farm began in the 1860’s and, for 3 generations, operated as a dairy farm.
Construction began on the old barn now known as Apple Country Retreat.

Initially, the plan was to build a bunkhouse for the crews that installed pools for Royal. After much work and creativity, the “bunk house” was renovated into much more than they had ever dreamed or planned for. Over the last several years, they decided to continue building suites inside of the facility. The idea of a Bed and Breakfast started to arise with all the production being done there.

The James family then decided to introduce Apple Country Retreat to the public. This fairly new and intricate venture has already started to serve its’ purpose of offering an extraordinary escape verses your typical B&B.
They are equipped to offer live music in a rustically elegant environment that can cater up to 120 people. This runs alongside the romantic and luxurious suites offered as accommodations.
